I blindly chose your office from Dex Online, so you can imagine my surprise when we showed up at your office and found it neater then the Children's Museum!  My kids had such a wonderful time there, I would have never imagined they had gone to the dentist's office.  When my older daughter had to come back for some work, my younger daughter cried because she wanted to go back too. 

I love how you all welcome me and my three kids just like visitors to your home.  I feel so comfortable taking them and letting them play while we wait.  And I especially love how you have drinks for mom- the kids are so busy playing and having a good time, I get to have a drink all by myself!

I never had a trip to the dentist like this when I was a kid, and I can't even explain how exciting it is to me that my kids are able to have this kind of experience.  Thank you so much for creating this wonderful place and having the best staff ever!

If you don't remember me I am the mom of the (super cute) spiky haired

boys Daniel and Andrew. I just wanted to pass on to you how much we love

our dentist.  I must tell you that I am a typical 38 year old who is

terrified of the dentist due to childhood drama....waaa, waaa, waaa.  I

can't tell you how happy it makes me to see my kids smile and get excited

about seeing Dr. James.  Daniel had his cousin over the other day and I

asked him what he would like to do (I was thinking zoo, museum, park,

ect.).  He told me that he would like to introduce him to Dr. James.

Our family tells everyone to go to Dentistry for Kids. We all had such a great experience on our first visit, they cant wait to go back. We have three children: 13yrs, 9yrs and our youngest just turned 4yrs.

 

At first we thought it was strange when the kids’ started asking when can we go to the dentist again—now after knowing the Dr. James and all of the Staff  it is very clear to us, that they are for the patients/families. They give 200% to every person that walks in the door.

Dear the entire staff at Dentistry for Kids in Wilsonville,

 

I found your website while searching online for a pediatric Dentist after a very traumatic first trip with my three and a half year old Daughter.  After our last trip to a different Dentist to fix a cavity, I believed my child would forever be frightened of any dental procedure.  I called your office a little after 8 am, talked with your lovely receptionist and told her about my daughter's trauma with the Dentist before.  She was able to get us in that day, and was very reassuring.  We arrived and my daughter was very apprehensive, that is until we walked into your beautiful office. A colorful palace of toys and inviting for all ages that is incredibly unbelievable to both a three year old and her mom.

 

Dr. James came out personally to invite my child back to examine her teeth, and even took the time to show her how to play a fun game on one of several computers in your waiting room. Again, wow.  He was quiet, but friendly and spoke with my daughter like she was his only patient.  The two of them chatted about pets, the movies she liked and her favorite things.  He took the time to explain to her the tools he would use and even showed her on her finger that it wouldn't hurt.  He turned on her favorite movie, continued to chat quietly, inspected and cleaned her teeth (As I sit across the room in shock because she would hardly open her mouth for the other Dentist). The assistant was pleasant as well, playing fish finger puppets with my daughter while the cleaning was finishing up. I also really appreciated the fact that I was apart of the process and my thoughts and opinions regarding my child mattered to him.  I could not believe the difference from my last experience, your office and staff really are extraordinary.  My daughter asks me everyday when it is she gets to go back, tells everyone she sees about her "Disneyland" Dentist and asks them if they want to go too.  I also insist they go too, but I leave the "Disneyland" part out.

 

Thank you for going above and beyond what is necessary to make children feel at ease with Dental care.  We can't wait to come back and I am SO glad I found your website.

1) The second blow me away experience came when my 3 year old daughter had her first dentist appointment with the new Wilsonville Pediatric Dentist Dustin James DMD, PC of Dentistry for Kids http://www.dentistryforkidsonline.com/Dentistry_For_Kids_Online_(Dustin_James_DMD_PC)/Meet_Dr._James.html His office just opened in the new building across from Town Center Park. I have to tell you, from the minute I walked in my jaw dropped and I never recovered. We walked into a spacious amazing Pottery Barn catalog. Literally, it looked the kids Pottery Barn store. With a huge doll house, sail boat and complete Pottery Barn Kitchen set. A stove, fridge, oven, table and cooking set with fake food. A huge electric train whirred up above us, set into tracks themed of Briar Rabbit against the professionally painted cloud-filled ceiling. Five flat screen computer banks complete with kids games sat waiting to be played across from the front desk console - which was layered with beautiful small square reflective tiles that reminded me of a waterfall. A large flat screen television flanked the back wall. Lounge chairs were everywhere. I could have sat comfortably, read a book and let my daughter play all day.

The dentist was amazing. He took my daughter back into the dental area which was equally impressive. They picked a tooth brush and went into one of the themed rooms. There, he carefully explained everything he would be doing to her by blowing air and water on her finger as his perfect, Miss America-looking assistant with big bright white teeth looked on and also reassured. Not that my daughter needed reassuring. She was jelly from the minute she walked in. "Do whatever you want to me - just don't make me leave." Never, have I seen her sit so still and at the end she was escorted to a prize room with goodies from floor to ceiling where she picked a prize that trumped anything you would get from one of the typical doctor's treasure chests. When we were done I had to carry her out. She did not want to leave. I would definitely recommend this children's dentist. Not just for the atmosphere, but for his credentials (see his web site), his state of the art equipment and his very gentle way with children.

I wanted to thank you for making my daughters first trip to the dentist not only memorable, but so fun! From the moment you walk through the door you can tell that this office was built on a true love of children.  Your gentle way makes the dental experience so much easier for little ones.  We really appreciate that you made her needs priority, and then later took the time to explain everything to us the parents. You and your staff are fantastic.

3. 3)From Yelp.com :I recently took my two children here for their first dental appointments.  And I have nothing but GREAT things to say.  My children (ages 3yo and 20mos)  had such a good time at the dentist, they didn't cry once!!!  
   
   The office was decorated beautifully.  It was almost like what you would see as a dream world for children.  There was a train track wrapped around the office, on the walls. There is a doll house and pirate ship, in the middle of the waiting area, computers with kid-friendly games lining one wall, and a play kitchen along the back wall.
   
   My children automatically settled in which was a lifesaver for me, since I had to fill out the patient forms.  Which you DON'T NEED to manually fill out anymore.  They have fast patient check in which is all computer based!  No more hand cramps!! :-)  
   
   After checking in we were greeted by Dr. James' assistant.  She brought us to the back where the kids got to pick out their toothbrushes.  (Amazingly these weren't the cheap ones with the gold lettering on it... they were the same OralB ones that I buy at the store for my children.)  
   
   We then took them to the dentist chair which was made perfect kid size by putting a little kids sofa chair on it.  My toddler got to watch Cars on a monitor to help make him feel more comfortable.  
   The staff amazed me with how patient and caring they were.  They never once pushed either child to open their mouth or to do anything they weren't yet comfortable They would just try a different way, or move on to a different part of the exam and go back to that when they were ready.
   
   After their exams they got to take their "My First Dentist Visit" picture, which was printed off as a souvenir for me.  Then the children were then led down the hall to the "prize room."  They had wallets, bags, balls, stickers, coloring books, and many more cool toys.  The kids each got to pick out a prize.  
   
   The visit was amazing and I recommend them to everyone that is looking for a dentist for their children.  You will NOT be disappointed!!
   

4. 4)From the first time I went into Dr. James office, to now, I have not stopped talking about their professionalism and hospitality. If what you provide is not service, I do not know what is.
   

My daughter was the first to see Dr. James (in our family) and she absolutely loves it there. She raced home to tell her brother about her experience. What other dentist makes kids feel at home this way. He even played the Wii with us one afternoon, how cool is that. He really took the time to make us feel welcome and I believe that he took a lot of consideration into planning this establishment. For something that could be a not so pleasant experience, they really make it positive.

In my experience with this office, they called me to tell me that my billing was incorrect and it would be rebilled. If they were out to take advantage of me, they could have. Susan politely called me and corrected the error to my benefit (not theirs). I don't know about all of you, but there are so many insurance companies out there and all with different benefits, and from working in a medical office, I can relate to the confusion. What I want to point out is that they realized the error and fixed it. Not all offices would do that.

I strongly encourage you, all of you, to take your children to see Dr. James. It is a truly pleasant experience they won't forget and you won't either.

5) We are also new patients of Dr. James. Both of my kids (ages 12 and 9) haven't had the best experiences with dentists, so we were all a little nervous about the appointment.

The waiting area is fabulous! According to my son, "it's filled with really cool kid stuff." and I agree with the other poster that my kids could've stayed and played for hours.

We were given a tour of the entire office and invited to stay with our child during the cleaning. We opted to stay in the waiting room. After his cleaning and picking out a "cool" toy, my son came out to us with a giant smile on his face and reassured his sister that "it didn't hurt at all." It was then her turn, and just like her brother came out all smiles!

We had just changed medical and dental insurances, so Susan was very helpful calling our insurance company and helping us determine the correct coverage amount and copay.

We have recommended Dr. James to friends and family who have children. Even I would love to be able to go there!!

6. 6)I am very glad that Dr. James and his staff are now in Wilsonville. In 2007, my 10 year old son had emergency tooth pain ... that day we traveled from Tualatin to Vancouver, Washington to see Dr. James.
   ( Dr. James' Wilsonville office was still under construction.) What a blessing Dr. James has been for our family. Both my daughter age 8yrs. and my son soon to be 11yrs. are excited to go to Dentistry for Kids. After my daughters first visit with Dr. James she decided to no longer grow up to be a rock star, but rather to be a dentist. My son likes the computer games in the waiting area and the Pokemon Cards at the end the best.

   I don't know how others feel, but i feel very fortunate to have such a genuine caring dentist in town. Dr.James and his staff goes above and beyond any of my expectations. I use to dread taking my kids to the dentist for thier constant crying, and fear they had of the dentist it was very tiring to me, and finally by word of mouth i was blessed to find Dr.James. He is very compassionate when it comes to his patients, explaining & showing my kids everything he is going to do.Dr.James listens to my concerns & takes the time to answer any questions I may have. Not to mention he explains the cleaning & procedures & why it is important. He is more than I ever expected in a dentist. Susan his front office manager is sweet & very kind, I never have to worry about a suprise bill at the end of my appointment she tells me what is covered and what isn't. She is up front and honest another GREAT quality this office has!
   His office is so warm and inviting and there is something for everyone to do,its not your typical waiting room in your Dr.'s office with only a couple of toys here and there,he has so many things to do and so many learning tools and toys, oh my! Not to mention the train and the walls look like something out of Splash Mountain @ Disneyland! My kids can't wait to g back to the thier dentist, I never thought I would ever be able to say that, I strongly recommend this office especially if you expect the highest quality care for your kids!

8. 8)I wanted to recommend to all parents the new pediatric dentist in town, Dr. James. I have two daughters, 12 and 16, and I have been to many dentists during their lives trying to find a good fit. My twelve year old had her first tooth pulled out by him and although she was petrified to go, she came out of Dr. James' office as if she'd just been to Disneyland! She said she never felt a thing and she absolutely loved the virtual movie she watched while she was being prepped for the extraction. My other daughter at 16 thought her visit to him was her best dental experience ever and wished I had found him when she was little. He's just the best in our opinion.
